Josephine Hock is a puppeteer and puppet maker with a focus on documentary theater of things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was born in 1995 in a small village in the Thuringian forest. After leaving school, she did a voluntary social year at the B\u00fcrgerb\u00fchne of the Staatsschauspiel Dresden. She then studied contemporary puppetry at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin, graduating with distinction in 2019. In the same year, she won the main prize with her first solo production \u201cNOR. Vom Kirchturm kann man die Zugspitze sehen\u201d at Freisprung Festival Rostock. Josephine Hock works freelance both at municipal theaters and in the independent scene. Her self-developed plays are shown at various venues throughout Germany and invited to international festivals. They deal with documentary themes such as village structures in East Germany, talking about sex or domestic work, using the means of object theater. Their first feature film, \u201cAnma\u00dfung\u201d, premiered at the Berlinale in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a puppet maker, Josephine Hock has a particular fondness for rubber milk and makes puppets for small intimate spaces as well as the large (open-air) stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She regularly gives workshops for children, young people and adults on the subject of object theater and has worked in this context, for example, at the GRIPS Theater Berlin, Schauspiel K\u00f6ln and at various theaters in the semi-professional scene in Thuringia. She is also a member of the Secret Dramaturgical Society (Geheime Dramaturgische Gesellschaft) and works with them to create discussion spaces at theater festivals, conferences and after performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2023, Josephine Hock has been a lecturer for object theater at the Rostock University of Music and Theater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
